I have shot 7 different seating depths (3 shot group) from .010 jam to .010 jump. I have an old chronograph (competition electronics), and while it's nice to have numbers as an additional piece of data, I'm hesitant to base decision making on it as far as ES / SD.
That being said, all the groups have been pretty good. Agg for these 18 shots have been .2231. I have a few questions that I would like mulled over.
First, I'm shooting new brass. Should I expect changes when I do the standard .02 shoulder bump FL resize? Should I test any further tests with resized once fired brass?
Secondly, it appears to me that shooting at 100 yards is pretty much moot from here on out if I actually want to find useful info, and next stage 5 shots need fired. Does 200 or 300 make more sense, getting myself a little more distance without having the wind unduly influence groups. I'm leaning towards 200.
All things being close, where do you go from here? I shot the first set of targets yesterday, and was happy that POI was all essentially the same both vertical and horizontal. But after jumping to the far end of the test spectrum today, POI was still the same. I'm green, but the other few guns I've reloaded for have moved around noticeably when adjusting seating.
The two groundhog targets, I adjusted my scope and shot a group. On the second I adjusted more finely and finished my group, so disregard POI changing in these targets.
I'm just looking for guidance from those that are used to these kinds of groups, because I'm honestly overjoyed with these groups and wonder how they could improve.
