where to get a custom fl die

Sounds like a Dasher. The Dasher is blown forward .100". You could probably get by with the Dasher Die. Neil Jones will make you a Custom from your fired cases. He makes the best die on the planet. http://neiljones.com/

harrells, if time is an important factor. if you have the sizing reamer and time isn't an important factor, talk to your gunsmith.

i called neil jones he said it would be about 3-4 months. I'm going to send him some brass and let him make one. For now I ordered a redding. the man I got it from said it was blown out .120. so I'm thinking the dasher should work. where can I measure at to see how much it is blown forward.

Swampers,
You will love the Die that Neil makes for you.
You can review the two prints that I’ve attached for a comparison. The way to accurately measure how much your chambering has been blown forward is to use a .375” Comparator. Subtract the 6mm BR length from yours.

Sounds like it is blown forward .0945" from the Maximum 6mmBR length. Very close to the Dasher! measure your fired case at the Shoulder/Body junction to see how close it is to the Dasher.

I had Neil Jones make me a custom FL die a few years back, excellent results and workmanship. He likes using his own bushings that incorporate the shoulder-forming portion of the internals where others use bushings just for the neck.

We can discuss the +'s & -'s of these options until the Fed gets a budget balanced but in the end they both work just in different ways.

Neil will make you custom bushings too of course. Typically he'll supply you with three with the die.

I had Hornady make me a custom FL bushing die a couple years back, cost me less & I was pleased with their work. Their die uses Redding-style bushings so you have more options if you find you need one or more in different sizes.

I believe Redding makes custom dies also, as do the other major manufacturers.

As a side note: it's not always a good idea to make a sizing die using a chamber reamer. It CAN be done of course, but the result may not be the best solution.
