Where to buy Meopta S2 HD 82mm Spotter?

Hi,

I'm in the market for this scope - wonder if you can recommend a credible seller.

Seems the places I normally purchase from don't carry Meopta or not this model. The other option the the NF version with the carrying kit but I'd rather have the actual MFG version Meopta.

Thx in advance.

Paul

Thx. Took a look and some items aren't available. Also I guess the cost advantage over the NF version has dwindled - almost parity.

Just an update - and we'll want to contribute to the forum that may help others.

Well after much research I decided to get a Kowa TSN-99 - wow that was a leap different from the starting point!

On checkout the discriminating method to feel good about the scope became clarity of Saturn and it's ring. I couldn't really make sense out of a literal star test ( looking for symmetry in and out of focus). I didn't quite feel like the big Kowa on a stout tripod was yielding a crisp distinction between the planet, ring, and space in between - kind of fuzzy edges. So I ordered a Nikon Monarch ED82 with 20-60 EP.

The Nikon easily has the edge on clarity when viewing saturn. So I'm inclined to believe I have a less than average sample of the TSN -99!

Well there are some really good attributes of the TSN. The 99mm objective does let a lot of light in. The micro focus is a joy compared to the barel focus on the Monarch. And the Kowa is impressive wrt attachments, versatility and ability to use the same EP on the TSN 883 and 773 series.

Well ashame it isn't performing with a scope at 40% the cost - that BTW is made in Çhina:(.

I'm kind of at a loss here on this one - where's the quality for the price point? It will be going back - rats!

Well time to rethink.

Ok maybe I'll talk to Kowa that's an option but at this time I can still return the Kowa and then I'm back to square one. If Kowa wants to sell me one direct for same price I'll give them the chance to compete or send me a good specimen. Good idea - but wow they are going to need hold a high standard for the price comparison to make it worth it. - thx

I sent a message to Kowa - detailed to explain the experience and so far no response (so I'm questioning the customer service). This one has gone back as the time period required that.

I didn't realize the Nikon was made in PRC when I ordered it and that's a non-starter - maybe I'll be back to the Meopta- though if a good TSN-99 could outperform the Nikon .....it would be a joy to own!

Wow, I was thinking of selling my S2 and going to the Kowa TSN99 for non packing hunts and range shooting and moving from the Swaro 65 to the Kowa 553 but this has me rethinking that.
I agree that Nikon has great glass, I have two of their Fieldscope ED series spotters and lots of camera lenses.
It is difficult to get that much high end glass on the table in hot/cold conditions to compare.
Keep us posted !
