Where have all the powder gone

What was the highest price you watched, me Varget 8 lb. jug sold for $500 + shipping in 2009.

I saw an 8# jug of Varget go for right around $800 on Gunbroker after the first election. There is someone from Minnesota on their now selling 16# of Varget for $800 a pop. I have mixed feelings since I make a living selling things. The angel on my right shoulder says this isn't right, the devil on my left shoulder is saying "if they are willing to pay for it, sell it to them".

The "market" determines prices. If supply is limited and demand increases.....prices increase. Increased prices incentivise producers to supply more product. It also motivates those with supply to put it on the market. Prices will return to normal when supply and demand are balanced. This is called capitalism and it is the foundation for the strongest country on earth (for the time being at least). So, stop your whining and post some of your spare Varget for sale. At $400 per jug, you can make more than your best stock purchases! A year from now, you can restock at 1/3 of the price sold.

Or we could keep whining about panic buying and those dirty rats who are so bold to take "advantage" of the situation....

I don't know Erik,
I believe taking advantage of the mentally handicapped is wrong even if they are willing.

You are correct Bailey. But I don't know if you are defending the handicapped or putting down the people paying high prices for guns and components. ;D

Call precision reloading in SD. I got 47 pounds of all varieties of powder today for my customers. Varget, h4198, rl15 etc. The only thing he didn't have was h4350. So i got imr 4350. Small shops in the midwest have powder.

I went to a gun show in Princeton, IL this past weekend and had no trouble finding powder. There were three vendors and they had it all.

I bought 1 lb of IMR4198 for $23.00. Every powder I saw was in line, not overpriced. I did see a price swing for AK47's ranging from $600 for a 22 AK47 to $700 for a 30cal AK47 to $1400 for another one. There was one company selling AR15 parts, uppers, receivers and his prices were not out of line either. It seemed as though time had frozen to a time before the CT shooting.

Sportsman's Warehouse in Ogden, UT has plenty of primers and most powders except Varget. Later! Frank

I stopped by the local reloading store today in the St. Louis area to take a gander. Im fully stocked up, but figured I would buy even more supplies if it was available ;D I bought some Varget, H4350, Benchmark, bullets and some Czech Republic SELLIER & BELLOT Large Rifle primers. Are these primers any good??? Thanks!

UP here in the Sierra Nevadas (California) no Powder,no primers not many bullets left. I think it will all come back after the dust settles.

Stopped by the Cabela's in Buda, Texas (just south of Austin) the other day. One lb. of RL-25 - that was it! One box of large pistol primers. Bullet selection was very poor. They may have let their stock get low ahead of taking inventory a couple of weeks ago and now find they can't replenish it.

Thank you Bill Klinton!!!!! I stocked up in 1994. I have enough powder, bullets, and primers to last till I am 205 years old. I even bought spare decapping pins, and i have only broken/bent a couple in 30 years of reloading.
