Where Has All The Ammo Gone ??

Lapua40X

California Hunter Education Instructor
Attended a meeting today and was introduced to a firearms dealer who shared some of his recent experiences in conversation. He tells me that his shop is located in a small town adjacent to the Interstate and that he has been getting calls from people traveling the highways, calling sports shops in every town they pass to check inventory, and buying all the ammo they can. He told me that he has taken calls from ordinary folks traveling from every state west of the Rocky Mountains who seem to be using their vacation or other free time to hoard whatever they can gather. Funny what fear will do to the psyche.

Blah, I was in Brunos today and there is plenty of bullets, brass, primers, powder, and barrels. Things are improving all around and will be back to normal by year's end IMHO.

+1 and amen :)

Just an opinion from across the pond here in the UK.
The word on the vine is that we are experiencing problems in obtaining powder, bullets, primers etc, because of the panic buying going on in the US of A.
So do us a favour guys, stop the panic buying and calm down and things will get back to normal far faster than the "If it is there I will buy it syndrome and to hell with everyone else".
Just my view on things!
Good shooting to all.

Where I live there has been an acute lack of ammo (.22LR, .45, 9mm, .223 & .308) and very little access to relaoding components for months. This has not been a particular bother to me as I have plenty of most everything I need but I have been looking for a little factory ammo to take some new shooters to the range and some of the newer (introduced in the last 20 years) rifle bullets and powder (e.g. Varget & 155 gn VLDs) to test. I've been visiting gun shops as I travel around and find a much better supply away from my home. So, I'm probably one of those folks you're talking about but I'm not trying to buy to stash it under my bed but just what I need for immediate use.

I can't find any Berger 25 cals., not even at Bruno's.

I believe you're right, that things should level out by year's end. I just wish those of us on the left coast had a Bruno's. I can't find powder, or primers within seventy five miles of where I live. Midwest USA doesn't have any, neither does Cabelas and if Scheels has any it's the best kept secret (and a very long drive to Reno) in the country. I'd endorse our friend geordiesniper from UK. Stop the nonsense, let things level out and get back to normal. My one pound of powder and 500 primers ain't gonna last forever.

Ok, this is going to sound strange. And I can't even believe I did it today. Went to a local range and as I was leaving asked the staff if they had any powder. I was sure they didn't so kinda expected a no. I got a no, but I also got a 'we are placing our order Monday, and should get it in two weeks or so..AS USUAL. I was told that I could order whatever I wanted. I asked for a jug of Varget and RE15. Was told they can only get Varget in 1lb bottels, so I ordered 4 of those and a jug of RE15. The guy said is that all you want? And I said "no, but let's let someone else get some too." He also said he usually gets in about 15 bottles of Varget per order right now and sells out in a day or two. I was light headed and hadn't had lunch yet, so I'm marking this up as some sort of ailment. But then again, I already have three pounds of Varget in the storage bin. I got the impression that he is having no trouble getting his orders fullfilled, but does have trouble keeping it on the shelves like everyone else I guess. SO, from this I deduce that the demand side far outstrips the supply side of the equation and that is due to panic/hoarding. Just MHO.
