Where are the Forster 6mmBR FL Dies?

I went thru this about this time last year. Wanted to use my Midway birthday discount, but no one had them instock. Ordered from Midway. Showed backorder. Told them I would wait(Forster was also out of stock. Emailed Forster. They found one set instock from a retail seller. Way too much $. Was told they would be running them again in a couple months. Was given a specific date. A couple weeks after that date, I emailed again attaching the previous email. Was told in production but a bout a month out before shipping. Waited another month. Emailed again(nice short polite emails). Was told shipping to Midway the following week. About 2 weeks later they showed up in the Brown truck! Looks to me like they don't mind losing a lot of busines to competitors by being out of stock on lots of items. Just scroll thru their dies sets and look at all the out of stocks shown. So good luck.

The same thing happened to me a couple of years back, I was looking for a Forster 6.5 Grendel F/L sizer. It was on back order for 4+ months, after the long wait I finally relented and got a Redding through the same vendor. There was no wait time, but the cost was about 60% more than the Forster die would have cost me. I converted a Forster .257 Roberts AI micrometer seater to 6.5X55 Swede, none of the vendors I contacted had the parts needed to do this, so I went to Forster themselves and they had all the necessary parts for the conversion. Might try going directly to Forster and see if they have what you need on hand.

you realize that neither of those two cartridges are in the top 10, probably not in the top 20 of common use.
just because WE want them does not make them "in demand".

Exactly what rsmithsr50 said.
I live only 50 minutes away from them and call Deana once in a while.
They are a small shop and run a bunch of the same things at once. Usually try to keep
up with the more popular things being bought. She said that 6.5 PRC and 6.5 Creedmoor are their top dies right now.
So if you are looking for a future build, think ahead and get stuff now, it's only going to get worse with more
people reloading every day. Look at the powder situation.
They don't want to hire new employees and if it gets slow, have to lay them off.
Sometimes they won't rotate thru all their dies for 6 months or more.
It is what it is.

I've heard that Whidden's quality control on shelf dies has been hit and miss lately.
This is 2nd or 3rd hand info, so take it as it is.
Never had a problem with Forster's, just some are harder to find than others, right now.

Funny that you mention that.. had an issue with a brand new 30BR sizing die (2 weeks ago) so I called Whidden and they admitted to the issue and send me the parts required to fix it. Seems like growing pains in a lot of shops these days.

I got a dasher set a few weeks ago to go with a barrel i did. They were on the shelf and seemed to be flawless, although i did only bump back a box that i false shouldered for him so not much hard use just the bushing part and seater. Didnt see any issues though. May have got lucky but i usually see at least one set a week come in.

I had to send my 6 Dasher sizing die back to Whidden for a sharp angle between the neck-shoulder junction, it was shaving brass off the necks of new 6 BR bass. It came back in a week or so, but by that time I was using my Forster to set a false shoulder, will use the Whidden to resize formed brass.

Or Harrell's Precision
The Harrell will be $$$ but the quality will knock you over and you will only ever need to buy once....
Bushing dies with No doughnut at the shoulder...
As we used to say in the race car business..."Speed costs money... How fast do you want to go..."

If I had not bought a Widden 6br set I would have bought a Harrell's. I may just have to get another 6br rifle set up just to have an excuse to buy a Harrell's.

I would beg to differ and point out that $91.00 shipped for a semi custom Harrell’s FL die is very reasonable.

It doesn’t follow that what’s most popular in factory Ammo is most popular with reloaders.
