When barrels get caught in a fire?

Several Barrels, for a friend of mine got caught in a garage fire. They weren’t actually sitting in the fire. They were down low on a shelf, and the rafters burned throughout the whole house, but a couple barrels had the plastic wrapping burnt off some look like they weren’t touched at all some look like they had smoke damaged. How do you tell when they’re done could they be just cleaned up and continue to be used? hope nobody has an experience with this but this a project for me to clean them up

`Put a thermometer in one, When it gets to 136 Degrees, It's medium rare!

If there's no charing , my guess is they're fine. Corrosion would be my biggest concern.

Even on the darkest one, the bore looked good still .

Receivers would be a different animal if they got hot enough to affect the temper of the steel.

The barrels are stress relieved at around 1100F. It is unlikely they got that hot, so they should be OK. WH
