What's your guess?

During a recent match, one of my rounds would not chamber during record fire. It's a 308win. I ejected the round, tried it again without success, ejected it, quickly looked it over and noticed nothing irregular, looked in the breech and saw nothing of concern. I never tried to force it in. Chambered next round and it was fine as were the rest of the shots. I always keep one extra round on the line so this was not a problem (until the etarget missed one in that string...).

After the match I looked it over carefully and noticed a lump at the neck. Looked like a small BB pellet between the neck and the bullet. Never seen that before.

Here are three pics. Two looking head on to the bulge and one from the side showing the lump.

Any guesses what it turned out to be?

After a few guesses, I'll reveal.

Do you seat with the necks being wet lubed..? Verses a dry lube...? I stoped useing any kind of wet neck lube when sizing because of powder sticking in the necks during the drop.... I only use imperial dry lube if there's not carbon in the neck from firings... I have heard of that happening but never had it happen to me personally.... At least that's the only problem , nothing wrong with the gun etc...

I don't have a clue what the bump is, but if I were you I'd be thankful that it didn't allow you to close the bolt and fire it. With the neck pinched like that it would have sent the pressure to the moon.
