whats the difference?

I have a 6mm remington, what are all the other 6mm calibers listed? Are any of them the same as 6mm remington? I'm looking for the best bullet and powder charge for my rifle, it is a remington 700 VLS, I don't know what the barrel twist is or how to find out. I'm kinda new to this precision shooting thing, but I want to know alot more.

The original name for the 6mm Remington is the .244 Remington. Remington built these rifles with a 12" twist to be used primarily as a long range varmint rifle. Winchester, on the other hand, set the .243 Winchester up with a 10" twist so that it could handle the 100 grain bullets for big game work. Needless to say, Winchester sold a LOT more .243 Winchesters than Remington did .244 Remingtons. So that they would not be out of competition with Winchester, Remington re-named the .244 Remington to the 6mm Remington name and changed the twist to a 9" twist, which is still used by Remington to this very day. There is a lot of good load data available in all of the good loading manuals today. I hope that this will help you.

I just need a good starting point as my main option is 100 gr. PSP from remington. I'm looking for accuracy not how deadly it is. If you don't hit it you can't kill it.
