What twist?

A good friend just called me informed me that he just baught two new rifles...both 243 win. Both are light or regular weight hunting guns....no varment or target guns.....the Rem is a 700 and I think he said the Savage is a 116 or a 16. He REALLY wants to shoot the 105 class bullets, but does not know if they will stabilize.

Anyone have an Idea on what the twist will be?

The Savage should be 1:9.25. Most need a 1:8 to shoot 105 class bullets.

Like Terry said, you should have a 1 in 8 for the for the 105`s.

My Dad's Rem 700 243 is a 1:9.25 twist best I can tell...

They are most likeley 9.25s . your best bet would be to use the 105 Amax as they only need a 9 twist. If you push them fast enough (3000) I would expect them to stabalize. I havent tried it, but the theory is sound(ish). 49 grains of Retumbo got me good results in my 8 twist. This load was listed in the Hodgdon loading magazine.Procede with caution ...... blah blah blah......
