What trigger for Kelbly Prometheus?

So I was doing some more research and reading on the Prometheus and I came across something from Kelbly themselves saying they do not recomend using Trigger Tech triggers in their actions. Don't really know why or the reasoning, but ultimately something about them just not being safe and going off when you close the bolt. Instead they recomend either the Timney HIT or the BnA. With that said which of the 2 would you go with? I was looking at the Tac Sport X for the BnA at around $325 or the HIT at like $180. The Tac Sport X goes down to 10oz and the HIT goes down to 8oz. I would realistically be in the 12-16oz range so either would work. Just wondering if there's any real advantages of going the BnA over the Timney despite the $140 price difference? Thanks!

I have a couple Timney HIT and they work just fine. Not sure why they recommend against TT as they are also an excellent trigger. Maybe something to do with their trigger hanger? You should call them and ask them to get clarification.

I actually have a diamond on a Prometheus on a fireforming rig. I used them on my pandas for a while. You can’t adjust the sear, and if I remember right, if you set them really low, it’ll drop the pin from not enough sear engagement.

I have a Prometheus with a TT Diamond, but am moving over to a BA 700 Comp trigger. 800 rounds fired on the trigger, 0 issues so far.

All I know is it had something to do with the hanger and the sear with a very low pull adjustment. Not all of them do it, but some. Enough for them to not recommend using them anyway.

Not a deal breaker for me. Plenty of other good triggers out there. TTs aren't the end all be all of triggers.

I'll more than likely go with the BnA just because I don't want to regret not doing so in the first place. Full custom builds deserve a great trigger.

BnA Competition 2 stage for me. I really love that trigger. No issues with it so far, ~700 rounds.

Depending on what your using it for but unless your really really really serious into some BR or f class then the bix tac sport pro trigger is very versatile.

You can set it up with or without safety, bolt release etc. Has a unique tension mechanism which allowed a huge range of adjustment without swapping fiddly springs. On the low end of weight I find it very hard to tell the difference in pull against bix competition and it's cheaper.

They gave around .250 and decent timing on the Prometheus.

Now you are seeing why I recommended against an action with a trigger hanger in your other post looking for an action. ;)

That said I would still check with them to see if any changes have been made from whenever that internet search article was run. Best to get the most up to date info.

Happy I saw this thread. I just got my first Prometheus single shot action. I was going to put a TTech Diamond in it since I have one in my other three TL3 actions and I am used to it. Guess I will go with something else now.

The trigger hanger has no different effect than trigger pin only actions. The trigger is in same place with trigger hanger or trigger pins only actions. The reason a trigger bracket action is better, is you can adjust firing pin fall which is crucial to accurate rifles. With a trigger pin only action, you are stuck with firing pin fall and cannot adjust your trigger for correct firing pin fall which should be .240ths or greater. Trigger manufacturers do not hold their tolerances and firing pin fall can vary from same manufacturer, so every trigger needs to be checked for firing pin fall if you want the most accurate rifle. We offer different offset trigger hangers to be able to achieve .240ths of fall or greater.

The TT triggers do not offer a adjustable sear and bolt can ride over sear bar when closing bolt and this makes for a unsafe firearm. It is not a common problem, but it only takes one time and it can be a big problem. If you want to use a Trigger Tech trigger in a Kelbly action with no sear problem use the Rough Diamond model, works great.

All my Kelbly's have B&A. No regrets at all. I did run a Jewell in one for awhile that was great too

Wise words of wisdom here fellas.

I have 2 Prometheus and both have TT Diamonds on them. I actually emailed Kelbly about them and they explained how to measure pin fall.
After measuring and providing them with my measurements we were all satisfied with the amount of fall to be safe and reliable.
So if you want to use a TT, just install it and measure it

How did they tell you to measure it?
