What to put on shoes for water proof

Merrells slip on shoes. These are supposed to be waterproof but I’ve never had a pair that was. Probably fake leather but what do you all recommend I think this has been discussed but could not find thread. Thanks

The last Merrell's shoes that I had fell apart on wet grass in the UK. Tried to glue the sole back on, wrapped them in gaffer tape etc, brought them back to NZ and got a refund.

In serious hiking days, I used good old "dubbin" . Heaven knows what was in it, but it kept leather from rotting, but attracted everything else, dirt, flies, cats and vultures ( no, not really) by remaining greasy. Horrible.

I agree Merrell quality has gone down... I bought the last pair I will ever own last year and want to protect them.. I like their soles for grip and they are comfortable... They do come apart under my "normal" use.. Probably a little hard on them but they used to hold up. CEO has to make profit for his bonus..

Frog skin…….
Sorry couldn’t help myself.
But I would volunteer to help catch a bunch for the cause I would even cook the legs for ya ;-)

Just ordered a 7.0 oz jar of SNO-SEAL from ACE hardware. I’ll give it a try. Thanks

FWIW I my experience put what you want on the boot but at some point they will all leak except for a rubber boot with no hole in it.

The only success I ever had was to start with something waterproof and add anything you want. Ive never had a set of boots or shoes that that wasn't waterproof and I made them that way.

mink oil, shoe grease throw it ALL out, SILICONE, LIQUID SILICONE I use red wings, you will NEVER have another wet foot.
