What Stock for a Win Model 70 3006

I have a Featherweight in 30 06, first rifle I ever bought about 25 years ago. Well I have gotten older and more decrepit and need to calm down the pounding on my body. It ismy hunting rifle but being OCD I want it to be an even better shooter than it is, I will get a Brux barrel installed when I find one available here in the classifieds, I want to get a nicer (heavier) stock for it. I have been searching for a but there are not a lot of offerings for the 2 piece long action Win 70. I am okay with a composite or a wood stock that can hold a brux #5 bull sporter or a rem varmint contour barrel. Any guidance or help appreciated.

I have a McMillan Super Grade on mine. IN 7 Mag with a #5 Krieger. I would not trade it for any other stock. IMHO you could not go wrong with any of the McMillan stocks for a Mod 70.

I have for a post-64 long action a walnut blank that is 90% inleted. It has the wide "beaver tail" forend that can take a heavy barrel. I used one of these blanks on a XTC rifle in the late 80's. The shape is similar to the old winchester marksman stock with a cheek piece. I'm asking $150 + shipping and Insurance.

I understand McMillan's are more expensive, maybe better, but for your needs a HS stock from Stocky's will work great.

I have one of these for my Model 70's in McWoody color. It looks like wood, handles like a dream.
