What should I restock this into???

F class, a tube gun, set the bbl back and turn it into a different .30 cal...I'm at a loss.
In the late 70s I had Jim Cloward build this Rem 700 long action LH into a HP course rifle. i have trouble in the sitting position so I had the stock made deep. Weighs a ton. It is chambered in .308, has a 28" Hart 1 in 11" bbl and the bolt is stopped by a screw in the left rear receiver ring, and the recoil lug is thicker than normal. he even made me LH Redfield International Mk8 sights. Don't remember the trigger, it hasn't been out of the safe for a while. I love the rifle, just can't shoot HP anymore (neck fusions) in the prone position for long sessions.
Sorry about the pictures, like I said it hasn't been out of the safe for a while.

Any thoughts?

That is a beautiful rig if I ever saw one. The walnut is beautiful and wish it was mine. Why not FT/R instead of f class, that way your off a bench.I would touch a thing on that rifle.Remove your handstop and run it in bags and a rest and see how it does.

OK guys, lets spread the truth when someone asks about or you mention F-Class......F/TR not shot off a bench, nothing in F-Class is shot off a bench, it's prone.....

F-Open uses a Front Rest, F/TR uses a Bi Pod, both can use rear bags, both have an Overall weight limit as fired, so you'll have to keep an eye on that if you were pushing the limit in High Power. NRA F-Class rules are in both High Power and Fulbore and the link to the NRA Complete Rulebooks online is here:

http://www.nrahq.org/compete/nra-rule-books.asp

As far as what to restock it to I wouldn't, throw an adapter on it, a Harris bi pod and shoot F/TR to see if you can handle the ground without the sling.

Sorry that you have a fused neck, I'd put the rifle up for sale and use the funds to build a bench gun or keep the rifle and trim it down for silhouette use.

Bruce,
You can go either F open or FTR. F/O weight limit 22# for gun and all attachments. Use front rest/rear bag. There are adapter plates that will slide into you fore end rail. FTR uses bipod front/rear bag. Total weight allowed is 18.1# including bipod.
Try your prone position with a pillow or foam wedge under your chest to support your upper body. If that works contact NRA for medical allowance to artificial support.
I wouldnt restock until you decide which class you want to shoot in. Go to a match and ask people if you can lay down with their setup and see what you think and what you are comfortable with.
Good luck,
Dennis

I stand corrected on ft/r taildrag. Didnt realize that as I am not an official f-classer.I just play at my club with an f-class savage.
