What shell holder to prime 6br brass with RCBS priming tool

So its been 13 months but my rifle should be ready for pick up on Friday, saying I'm anxious to get this thing broken in is an understatement, this is my first build.

So I sat down tonight to prime my break in rounds and never gave any thought what shell holder should be used for a 6br. Obviously my 308 shell holder holds the case perfectly but the hole in it is for a large rifle primer and the larger rod doesn't seat the primer all the way. I tried running the small rod but getting it to line up through the larger hole is difficult. I managed to prime 35 cases but several primers are a bit smashed or slightly dented. I'm not to worried about these as they are for break in only and a couple after to see how it groups but am wondering what others do to seat the primers properly. Is there a special shell holder I should have purchased? Which rod are people using? Do I just need practice using the small rod and devolope a feel when the primer is seated all the way?

Thanks in advance, John

use the 308 shellholder and the small primer rod,,I cant remember which but you should have a black and white bushing the shellholder fits on,,one is for the small dia rod and the other is for the large dia rod,,I would guess you are using the small rod with the bushing for the large rod,,

I figured it was something simple I was missing, that was the ticket, thanks for your help.

Unless you had some nice wood fitting done Id bet the gun was built in about a month. The other time was waiting for the smith to finish those ahead of you.

I know of a fellow that died and had sent several guns to a unknown smith. The house has been sold and the daughter-in-law moved out os state. No one knows where the guns went and they will never be seen again.

I could never understand why anyone would send a gun to someone to be worked on in a year or why a smith would want a years guns ahead?? "send it to me and Ill get on it in about a year."
