What scope everyone using on there .22LR for precision shooting?

I googled best 22lr scopes and got this list. I've looked at them all and couldn't find if they where FFP or 2nd FP. I know I don't want the Simmons. That one just comes off very cheap. The Nikon has a weird reticle that I'm not familiar with. Whats everyone thoughts and are you using something else?

Top Scopes for the . 22lr Rifle
  • 1) Nikon ProStaff Rimfire 3-9 x 40 Riflescope (BDC 150) (Our top pick) ...
  • 3) Simmons .22 Mag TruPlex Reticle Rimfire 3-9x32mm Riflescope (Budget pick) ...
  • 4) Vortex Crossfire 2 Rimfire. ...
  • 5) Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn 4-12x40mm Riflescope.

For what purpose(s)? (plincking, hunting, competition, etc.)
For what distance(s)?
For what type of rifle? (factory, target rifle, custom built, etc.)

For casual shooting at up to 100 yards, including insects on target paper at 50 (bait them in with a dab of honey, but don't shoot the honey bees), its either a Weaver T10 or Weaver T24 both newer type with aluminum tubes and tiny 1/8 dot reticles. My much used and valued rifle is an early M77/22 with a 20 inch Douglas barrel - 30 years old with about 20,000 rounds thru it, mostly CCI standard velocity and CCI Blazers at 50.

Edit: for a good compact scope the new Leupold 3-9X32? with AO might be considered. This would be a better scope for shooting small rodents like gophers than the Weaver T10 because less than 10 X is useful for those real close shots at under 30 feet.

Sorry, more for just shooting targets from 25yds to as far as I can. I'd like to be precision to 100, maybe 200 if my rifle let's me, but then be able to hit the plates out to 500. I don't know if that helps any.

I have the Nikon ProStaff Rimfire 3-9 x 40 on my 10/22 Ruger and really like it. Glass is very clean and sharp. I use it for hunting and plinking.

For target accuracy/precision out to 100yds and further I will strongly suggest to stop looking at low powered scopes and look for scopes with magnification to them. At least 24X on the high side with +40x magnification even better yet.
Aim small, miss small.....

100-200 bench Trijicon AccuPower 5-50x56 on a 20moa mount. Eliminates a spotting scope good enough to see rimfire at 200yds.

Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x and Athlon Midas Tac 6-24x are two that I see recommended for NRL22 'base' class. Both FFP. The Vortex at least is available in both MOA and MRAD versions (local stores carried the MOA version, but not the MRAD). Recently picked up a Diamondback Tactical 6-24x from OpticsPlanet (before their Black Friday sale of 11% off) to top my Sav Mk II for these kinds of events, replacing a fixed focus Weaver 3-10x40mm mil-dot / mrad scope. Being able to focus in close for the wee targets should be a pleasant change.

Vortex also sells a 4-16x version, if 6-24x is too much for what you want.

Not sure the Nikon Rimfire will focus down to 25 yds. I use one on a 10/22 build, the recticle is a bit busy IMO but once you get past that, the glass is clear. Good for plinking, can't say for hunting. Check out the Athlon Talos line 6x24 for just under $200.

Right now I threw my Vortex Viper Gen II on. Its really nice, but it will be going back on my 6.5CM eventually when I get my 338. Do you know if any of the scopes you listed are FFP off the top of your head?

TY much. Very Nice stick. Are those Badger rings? I called Vudoo today and ordered an Apparition. I’ve waited and drooled long enough.

Seekins rings. Don't know if they still offer the action separately. I would recommend that route and get a smith who's familiar with match 22s to smith it. I think you would be happier with the outcome.
