what moa base to one mile?

Guys help me out with this, my 110ba will be here friday in 338 lapua (26 inch bbl). I have a Sightron 8x32 s3 with the moa-2 reticle and 70 moa elevation . I plan on shooting the Hornady 285 and the Berger 300 hybrid with H1000 as a starting point so my Exact velocity is not known(i know this is important info). It comes with a 20 moa base, will this get me to 1760 or do i need a 30 or 40 moa base? From the video on here in the bulletins it looks like 67 to 70 moa is needed.The moa 2 reticle has 10 hash marks under the center dot and i dont mind using one of them to sight off of but THIS CONFUSES MY LITTLE BRAIN so any help is appreciated. thanks

You'll need to know how much MOA is needed to get there and how much available MOA is on your scope. Don't overthink it.

I dont think you will reach a mile with your setup. If you use a set of burris signature series rings to mount the scope with .010 offsets you will make it to a mile. Down the road pick up a 40 MOA base then you can shoot past a mile if you wish.

I have a 40 MOA base and .010 offset rings for a total of 60 MOA. My scope has 100 MOA elevation in it. The max I can shoot without holding over is 3,054 yards. At that range I only have 3 clicks left in elavation in the scope. 375 Cheytac.

Just pick up a Super Sniper from SWFA, they've got 150moa of elevation travel.

What you have will require a higher moa base.

So i need a 40 moa base or more elevation in my scope. The base is cheaper since i already have the Sightron 8x32 in my safe, so ill give Ken Farrell a call . thanks guys

Give birdog a p.m, he will tell you exactly what you need, he has taken his Dasher to a mile and has mentioned which base he uses but I forgot the name of it and the adjustable moa it has, I want to say it has a 150 moa of adjustment in the base.

With the usable elev adjustment, you need to be careful you dont use too much MOA in your base. Too much and you wont be able to zero at short range....

You need about 32 MOA / 9,5 mils for 1000 yard shooting.
With a 20 MOA rail it should work perfekt.
With a 40 MOA rail you can`t shoot centered at 100 yard - that`s a a big disadvantage.
I have learned: for long range shooting a higher elevation is more important than a high zoom factor.


Here a nice pic from a customers rifle. He use the IOR with 22 mil elevation + 20 MOA ( 5,8 mil) rail. And the IOR MP8 reticle has perfekt mil and half mil lines for longer distances too.
