what loads to use

Hello all new to the site wanting to pick some brains .I load my own 223 rounds and have purchased 35 grain hornady heads and i am currently loading rounds using hogdons varget powder but in my loading manual it does'nt give me a starting load using the varget for the 35 grain head only the 40 grain head can anybody shed a little light on the situation or will i have to buy different powder to suit the head
??? :-[

Are you shooting the 35gr NTX or 35gr V-Max?

Assuming you are shooting a .223 Remington and using the 35gr V-Max, you can use the starting loads for the 40-grainer. As a general rule you should avoid substituting recipes when you change ANY component, but here you are going to a lighter bullet with shorter bearing surface.

You may also want to switch to a faster powder such as Hodgdon Benchmark or H322. Depending on your throat/freebore, you may run out of case capacity with Varget before you reach a full-pressure load.

Hodgdon lists loads for the .223 Rem and 36 grain bullets for Varget. Starting load of 24.8, and max load of 27.5.
