What is your favorite NRA Highpower short line load?

I'm gonna try my luck this year shooting in my local league, in NRA highpower with my AR sporting a 18" WO SPR barrel (1:7 twist). Our range only has room to shoot 200 and 300 yds. I just acquired a Sightron 4.5X scope cuz my old eyes are failing miserably with the peeps lately. Any help would be genuinely appreciated. Thanks Guys!

Any particular brass or primer?
LC brass or Starline. My public range has LC once fired brass all over the ground to pick up and reuse for free so, that's what I use. CCI 450 or Rem 7 1/2 for primers. You want the thick cup primers for a semi auto with a floating firing pin. Rocky Mountain Reloading is making a 69 and a 75g projectiles that shoot great for about 15cents each shipped to your door.

I've been shooting 69 grain Nosler, BTHP, LC brass, CCI 41 or Rem 7 1/2 primer, 23.7 gr. WW748 for years at 200 yards. Easily holds the X ring from a rest and the 10-ring prawn. The rifle has a WO 1:8 twist barrel, Bushmaster DCM lower with stock weight.

Pretty much the same load I use for offhand, and I have always loaded it on a Dillon with the Dillon powder measure. I compared weight charged to thrown charged cases and did not see any points lost.

I have used 24.5 grains of Varget with Sierra 69 grain Matchkings seated @ 2.250" for decades. You can go higher, a whole grain higher if you want, but this modest load has shot very well for me. Lake City brass.

Loader Monkey ammo is the easy button. Shoots the same as anything I can hand load.

But.. since you asked about short line loads, SMK 77 or Lapua Scenar L77 with 23.4 H4895, 205 MAR primer in LC brass at 2.250" OAL. Also, 23.2 8208 with the same components.

If you have 69's they will work good at 300 with 23.8 of 8208 or 24.0 H4895 but i seated them to 2.240" OAL.

My load is 24.0 gr varget, 77 smk seated at 2.250-2.255, cci 450 or ginex, LC brass. Load and go shoot, shortline load is pretty universal.

77s (any flavor) or 75s with 24.3 Varget, 24gr IMR 4895, 21.7gr H322, or 23.5gr N135. LC brass

Course doesn't require special load development and extensive testing. Also no reason to run them hot you aren't going to gain anything.

All good advice so far.

I use 77gr Sierra or 69gr Rocky Mountain Reloading (RMR) with 23.5gr R15 or N140.

The 69 gr RMR bullet is the best deal out there. Cheap and shoots well enough for 200/300 yds.

Thick primers are best. Avoid standard small rifle primers if possible like win standard SRP.

Pretty much anything works at 200. I have been using lake city m193 the last few years because I have way less time to reload. Hornady 55fmj works well and they're cheap. If I'm travelling far, like perry, then its 24 of n140 with a 77mk because if I forgot something, it works at any lone.
I wouldn't get wrapped around the axle over it, the 10 ring is about 3moa. Throw charges on a progressive and save your time for practicing the positions. Dropping an 8 in sitting because of your position is going you hurt much more than not having a 0.5moa load.

The prior posts citing the Varget loads with the 77 grain bullets are pretty standard for 200 and 300. Most do something different for 600, but not everyone, and if you're shooting reduced distance matches, the mag length loads will be fine. I've also had good results with the 68 and 69 grain bullets.
For matches at 100 or 200 yards, save some money and try the Speer 50 grain TNT bullets.
Good for you that you're jumping in and trying something new, have fun with the process.
