What is it?? On Barrel

Went to Grand Bohemian Hotel Greenville SC this morning. In the "library" they have some firearms on display. On the barrel I have no idea what it is about 8” from end. Anyone know?

I don't know either but it's a very cool and interesting old rifle either way.

That’s where you load it, it’s a Parlor Rifle, also known as a Zimmer Schuetzen. It was intended for shooting indoors, usually into the fireplace. They were typically made to match your regular center fire rifle.

Shooting at home into the fireplace.....I love it.
My oh my, have things ever changed. I believe most here would have been right at home back then. Crow on the porch railing? "Mom....hand me the Colt!"

the guy I worked partners with for many years went to his cousins in Regina to goose hunt. he was a few day early and was hanging around waiting for his cousin to get off work and noticed that lady across the street vacuuming with earmuff type hearing protection on. He walks out side and hears slow steady gunfire and realizes the girls husband is fireforming cases in the basement. Canadians, you guys have it all figured out.

Great article ; and fantastic knowledge here as always . As far as shooting inside ; My Dad was a champion Bullseye Competitor back in the sixties , and He shot both his Rim-fire , High Standard , and both his Colts in the basement , hundreds of rounds a week . Could have been why he was a Champion .

I agree with everything you said, although my wife has went out of town and left me alone, so I have tried shooting in the basement……lol
