What is current census on 6.5x47 L brass quality- recent production?

Anyone buy any brass recently????

Neck wall thickness, weight, primer pockets, etc?

Heard not so good in the past.....still an issue, or now history?

I believe it to be history. I bought 500 rounds in the early summer and it has proven to be very consistent and required very little brass removal to cleanup the necks. Shoots extremely well with no fliers other than that related to the nut behind the butt. Steve

Two guys at my club have new 6.5x47s on Barnard actions. Brass is recent. Both guys are shooting no-turns with xlnt success. One guy just shot a 1.5" in competition at 600 yards. By any measure, that's serious accuracy. Load was RL15 with Lapua Scenar 123s, velocity around 2920.

That is good news to hear, perhaps I'll re-consider again the 6.5x47L as I had really intended to build one. Thanks for the updates guys.

Bear in mind that even with the whining that you hear from people about Lapua brass quality--and I've been a pretty loud whiner about it myself--it's still far superior to anything else available. That is, unless you're willing to step up to the RWS price point.

Heard recently Lapua is coming with 260 brass soon.....another curve in which 6.5.....as it may squeeze the Creedmoor....which was set to squeeze the 47.....and so it goes.....

I use 6.5x47 necked down to use in a .273" no-turn neck 6x47 - I'd think this would make any neck thickness variations all the more obvious, but am not seeing any problems.

All I know is today I shot a 3/4" group at 200 yds with my BONE stock, out the box Sako 75 in 260, using FC308 brass, NO neck turn, or sorting....and let cool, then shot 2 more shots in 5/8" group......I stopped and was satisfied I am ready for deer/hogs. Using a 2-7x35 Burris 3P#4

130 AB, 44.0 IMR 4350.....

Time will tell about me getting a 6.5x47 or not, but right now I am happy for a hunting rifle, heck, my 6.5x55 Ruger K1A, also out the box, put 3 130s using 45.5/IMR4350 Lapua brass into 1 1/8" also this a.m.

It was time to call it a day!
