What height of scope mounts to buy?

I have a stock Remington 700P .223. I currently have a Precision Reflex steel picatinny rail, Burris 1 inch scope mounts (I dont know the height or model. They look like Zee signature mounts from what I can tell by looking at pics online) and a Bushnell Elite 4200 4-16X40 scope. I just bought a Leupold VX3 8.5-25X50 from a gentleman from this wonderful website! My question is what height of scope mounts will I need? I will be buying steel Precision Reflex mounts to match the picatinny rail. There is 3 different steel 30mm mounts im looking at. Intermediate .46" from base of scope to base, Standard .389" from base of scope to base and X-high .75" from base of scope to base.
I want the scope to go as low as possible. Thanks!

If you wear ear muffs, a scope mounted too low will have you thumping your muffs on the stock.

I have a leather cheek rest on the stock now. I would rather have the scope lower so I can rest my cheek directly on the stock and look right down the center of the scope. I know Leupold VX3L scopes has the bottom of the objective lens cut up like the shape of the barrel so the scope mounts lower to the rifle. This way you can naturally rest your cheek to the stock and not have to use a cheek rest or anything else to raise your head so you can look down the center of the scope. No, I dont wear ear muffs. I use free ear plugs from work.
