I'm happy to see some other perspectives finally come out regarding the current situation.
Some good points:
-Unless you live somewhere like the Alaskan Bush country, shooting is a hobby.
-If you don't like the price, don't pay. (I won't pay $8 for a loaf of bread. I'll make it myself or eat something different.)
-Learn from the experience.
-Don't expect the same behavior from strangers as you do friends and family.
-People who are buying components for the purpose of simply making a profit are not causing any more problem then those who have such a huge supply that they keep unobtainable to others. In fact, the scalpers are at least making them available. More importantly - neither are the cause of the problem.
I get that people are bummed by not having everything accessible at the click of a mouse - we have gotten to be a spoiled society. I personally don't care if 1000 primers are being sold for $50 or $5000. I still have my fishing gear.
Could you imagine what people from the WWII generation would think about the whining we do today? There was a reason why they seldom got rid of anything and were as resourceful as they were.
