What happened to the new Backcountry cartridges

So what is traditional and what is newer? Does new mean a brand new case or modified existing ones?
Help me out with what is new.....

- 30.06 family
- 250 Savage
- The 264 - 338W rimmed family
- Weatherby
- Dakota
- Lazzeroni
- RUM
- RSAUM
- WSM
- RCM
- Nosler
- CM
- PRC

Many, many more not listed. Just like the animal kingdom, some go extinct. Some thrive....looks like 125+ years of evolution to me.

New cartridge designs are fine.
Yes
As long as they perform some actual need.
Other opinions differ, and it doesn't really matter
For my hunting (primary use for my rifles) I don't need to shoot the heaviest bullets out there.
Ok, you use what you want for your purpose and your comments above mean nothing. Why would you think that everybody needs to subscribe to your way of thinking? It'd be kind of boring if we all did the same thing wouldn't it? You do you and let everybody else do them, if you don't like it don't do it but telling somebody he's wrong because he doesn't wear the same socks you do is absolutely stupid.

Playing in quickload 80k psi drives a 180gr Berger Hybrid Target to 3150 fps in a 30" barrel while using 60gr of powder. Interesting. It does test the "barrels are consumables" ideology. I know a 28 Nosler can surpass that but it takes 74gr of powder just to equal it.

If I shorten the barrel to 18" , the 28 Nosler takes 83gr of powder to reach 2800 fps. It takes 60gr in the BackCountry. The BackCountry is a much more efficient cartridge in shorter barrels.

The closest is the 280AI which can get to around 2700 with 60gr of powder in an 18" barrel.

Sounds boring to me.id rather load up the 28 nosler with a 26" barrel and old school brass...
brush really isn't a problem hunting.its dog hair thick down here .

I really don't like cans or muzzle brakes either but I have muzzle brakes. I could live fine without the them...

Call me a fudd I don't care.gotta get what you like

And being practical plays a big part for me.just common sense on what is actually needed ....

A 308 or 30-06 will cover anything you hunt in North America.
It’s not just about hunting. I do this as a hobby and the little hunting I do is for the enjoyment and not the meat.

I love seeing the new stuff come on the market. That doesn’t mean I’m impressed with it or buy everything new but it fills a need for somebody.

I disagree that new cartridges attract new shooters to the game. I believe that a newer shooter is simply more susceptible to the marketing gimmicks, because they don’t know any better.
But with that belief, only newer shooters buy the new stuff? I believe you don’t know as much as you think you know.

That took some mental gymnastics, since I said nothing of the such….lol.

This is a discussion forum. You made a comment, and I attempted to discuss. You seem to be taking offense and your reading comprehension is pretty weak. I’m sorry that I engaged, it won’t happen again!

Lol, I was correct…. :-)

Marketing campaign on backcountry failed miserably. In 5 years time nobody will shoot it.
I don’t know if it has or not as I’m not as I don’t see myself being in the market for this cartridge. I won’t fault them for trying nor anyone buying one. Just like the 21 Sharp, don’t need or want one but for someone it may be the ticket for them.

2700fps
@600yds 83" drop, 6" drift for 3mph

2800fps
@600yds 77" drop, 5.8 drift for 3mph

Energy was 15xx vs 16xx.

If thats enough to lift the sheets in the morning, get'sum.

I've got a 7mm RM and a 270w, I don't need a BackCountry. The proprietary case material will need to be proven for YEARS before I try it.

I like modern cartridges and chambers. A good deal on a 7wsm in a Tikka would be tempting.
