What happened to Forgreens Reamers?

I have several of them and they are very well made/machined. Just wondering what happened, Why they are no longer in business.

If I remember correctly, he went to work for HS Precision in Rapid City.

Dan worked for HS Precision before starting the reamer business. I got quite a few from him before he returned to HS. That's been 20+ years ago. His daughter worked with him when I paid him a visit. Since most reamers were pretty much a custom and reasonably priced he probably had a difficult time making $$$$.

Thank you Dave, I am impressed with the quality of them. Too bad he wasn't still doing them.

Although they are not reasonably priced anymore! Maybe they are the same but the dollar is worth less. There are not that many people making them and there was long wait times so the prices went up.

At the time Dan was the next choice after Hugh Henriksen. Dave Manson was running Clymer. I don't know when JGS first turned the lights on.

There is a good video on YouTube that I ran across, where JGS was visited by the author of the film. They gave a pretty comprehensive account of how, and when, JGS came to be. A search for "JGS precision gunsmith rifle reamers, a behind the scenes tour" will find the video for anyone that cares to watch it. JGS stands for Jims Gun Shop I believe. Pretty cool stuff.
