what gun to buy?

I have been looking at the Marlin 982 22 Magnum Rifle and it seems to fit my needs but im still looking. Does anyone know anything about this gun like how good it is and what is the best ammo for it?

I have one that I shoot at close in ground squirrels. They are very accurate rifles. As far as ammo, I would buy one box of each manufactures and test them yourself. Your gun might not like the same ammo as mine because each gun is a little different. The action on my Marlin is a little rough, it has smoothed out some with use, but not much.

For the money, it is a good choice.

Have you looked at the ruger 77/22 mag? Nice little rifles and you can customize them unlike the marlin. A buddy has one he sent to CPC Randy did an action job on it. You can also swap barrels on it to 17 hmr. I kind of like that idea 2 calibers one rifle. There is a guy on rimfire central that did a conversion to shoot 22 mag, 17 hmr, 22 lr, 17 mach2. I think he swapped the floorplate and barrels. I can't remember exactly. Sounds cool 4 calibers and one rifle. Kind of like the sako quad. Just something to think about for you.

The cz's are nice. I got one of the varmint 17 hmr. Nice rifle shoots pretty good. I've got a weaver v16 dot on it. For rings i suggest BKL. Good and inexpensive.
