What front and rear shooting rest do I need to buy ?

I am starting to get into long range shooting. I Have a couple 6.5 creedmoor Rifles, AR10 and a
Ruger m77. Plus some 223 guns.
I have the big sightron10-50x60 scopes on them. I can tell I am not solid enough with just a cheap 29.00 Caldwell bag. Not looking to spend a ton of money but looking for one I can crank up and down on the front and a good rear bag that cradles the butt stock real good on my guns. I have a cheap and way to hard Caldwell rear bag. Cannot getcit to lay flat the way I want it too. Look forward to your recommendations. Thanks. Marty

I would look into the Seb Mini and see what kind of front rest bags may be an option.......Different stocks need different bags... For rear bags i would get ones for the different type stocks you are using. Give Protector a call and they will ask you the questions about your stocks and make sure you get into the right ones to optimize your equipment.

Regards
Rick

I just saw Joe Cowan posted on the main message board, they make a very nice affordable front rest. Joe is the machine shop teacher at Altoona High school, his students make them as projects. Great rest, great guy and great projects for the students

Yep I have some of there long shooting gun cases. I looked at there rest. But looks kind of complicated ? I think they sale some rest for $165.00 but it looks like the the guns slide back under recoil ? Plus have a big cable hanging out of them ? Must be used for adjustments or something ? Not sure if I am smart enough to make a rest like that work. Ha ha ha. Marty

All rests let the gun slide back. It's a good thing.

Yep, the cable lets you adjust windage from a comfortable position.
I really like it for shooting but it's a pain to store, carry and keep in adjustment.

Most of the rests today use a joystick for windage and elevation.

Very basic rests have windage that you need to reach way up to the top to adjust or none at all- you just take care of windage from the bag end like a bipod.

Caldwell The Rock BR was just on sale for $140 from Midsouth. Mine has served me well. Protektor rear bag. They have lots to choose from. There is a B or C bag that is pretty standard. They have rear bags with thick heavy flat bottoms that are an option. They make front bags too that will go in THE ROCK.

Protektor makes all types of rear bags .You can call them with your wants and they will guide you in the right direction... They can also customize a bag for you. If you are not comfortable with a front rest they also make basic front bags .

Ok thanks for all the good info. I am kind of leaning towards the Caldwell
front rest , the model with the big wheel adjustment on bottom. And will look for a rear bag. I have some rear bags from Caldwell but not impressed with them.
Thanks. Marty

You can do a cable delete mod on this model, but they have another model that does not have the cable for wind adjustment. If you want something extremely simple and easy to use, stick with the bags. The BE is not complicated to use but does take a few minutes to get use to and learn it's adjustment features.

Ok thanks for he info. it looks like time after a few times shooting long range.
I am not getting my rifle butt stock solid.
I shoot the sightron 10-50x60 scope and any power over 20x I see my heart beat moving cross hUrs. That tells me I need a good REAR shooting bag. Now which one of those. Marty
