What freebore for 6XC using 105gr Berger?

I want to run some Berger 105gr Match Hybrid Target & 105gr Match Grade VLD Hunting bullets in a 6XC. I have read that .120 Freebore is whats needed. Since the 6XC has a long neck (around .291" long) I don`t really need to seat the bullet down with boattail in shoulder area. This rifle won`t be ran with 115gr bullets.

Thanks,
Sling

.120" is more than you need with either of those Berger 105 gr bullets in a 6XC. With a .090" free bore (and a one and half degree throat angle) the junction of the boat tail and bearing surface of the bullet of the Hybrids sits up about .030" forward of the neck/shoulder junction and it's about the same with the 105 Hunting VLD's. I don't see that a little more yet beyond a .090" free bore will hurt, but I don't know you need to go .030" more to .120".

the .120 FB gives you room to jump the bullets if needed aprox....030" ,,,thats helpful if using slow powders,,,the .090" FB doesnt leave much room for jump and still be outa the donut area,,,,do the math,,,sometimes you need to jump,,,Roger

I'm running the 105 Hybrid's in a .148 and you can't get them out far enough to touch, but based on my measurements .120 should be just about right. For what it's worth, the hybrids shoot GREAT even with the jump... even better than the DTAC's that I had the reamer made for in the first place. Go figure.
