What do you think of this reticle for PD shooting?

I really wish the dot (H) were 1/8 moa at max rather than 1/4. I'd be buying this for use out to 500 yds where the dogs can look pretty small.
I like these Siii scopes and have had a few days in the wind where the hash marks would come in handy.

As long as you can figure out the hash marks by shooting and giving them a value,I think it would make it easy to adjust for windage and yardage this way.

The reticle is okay, but it's kind of "busy." IMO, you won't be needing to shoot downhill in most cases, so I see no reason for the hashmarks above the horizontal reticle. Check out the varmint reticle offered by Leupold to see the difference. Personally, I use the dot reticle on a Simmons Classic scope I purchased for about $130 from Midway. It's top power is 20, so it is a little heavy, but it was cheap, well-built, has an adjustable objective and shouldn't get ruined by the fairly light recoil in the rifles I use. The 50mm objective lense also lets in a lot of light.

You don't really need a reticle that appears to be so complicated, but others might have a different opinion, and they may well be right. From my experience, however, I like a simpler reticle. Then again, I don't shoot past 250-300 yards, so---who knows---the one you pictured might be better than what I use. but on the flip side, you have to justify the cost of the Nightforce over a less expensive scope. www.6mmBR.com has information on some of the higher-end scopes.

i find "busy" reticles hard to use on small targets at long range with mirragerunning, etc.

i prefer the fine cross hair or 1/8 - 1/16 dots.
just my eyes work well with these.

I always thought the cross hair with a dot worked the best until I starting using a nightforce with NP-R1 reticle. As long as you can see the hit, the extra marks really help you figue out how far you are off it you missed. It also helps if you are shooting at dogs all over the town, because once you figure out where to hold, you can easily bounce back & forth from mound to mound & not have to be adjusting your scope all the time. Its easy to break down the 1moa marks. Under 300 the dot works fine, but after that the np-r1 rules especially on a prairie dog town. 2 moa marks would also work, it's just harder to break down in a split second. Just my 2cents.
