what do I have

Relative sent me a coue pics of a rifle my uncle had. remington 513t with a unertl scope. anyone got an Idea of value? I tried looking up the rifle and it seems to be a 600 dollar rifle. i know the pics of the scope are poor but any ideas? i will try and get her to send better pics.

From what I can see, its a nice rifle. I have one with Peep and globe sights.

I see rifles sell for $400 with rear sight missing. I bought mine complete with sights for $395 a couple years ago. My rifle shows a little more use than yours from the pics. The scope could be worth as much or more than the rifle. I am no expert on those.

The 513-T has a 3 lb minimum trigger. Breaks nice and clean, but difficult to get lower.

The letters on the barrel are date code. Look it up on Rimfire Central Remington section. When I looked mine up, (1952) it had also been back to the factory in 1959.

Mine is a good shooter.

To be able to access a value to the scope we need the power # on the ring and the diameter of the scope tube at the very least. Wayne

I Asked her to look for a number but she says it does not have on other than down by the objective lens. she sent me a few more pics

It appears that you have a nice Unertl 1 1/4" scope with target mounts in nice condition. The power will be a number on the locking ring in front of the eyepiece, from the period, likely to be somewhere from 8X to 12X. If it's 10-12 it is $500 all day long in that condition, maybe a bit more.

Tim's right as usual. In good condition $500 is the low end of the market. 8X are in demand for the CMP sniper matches and bring a premium. A 20X like new could go for $800+. Unertls tend to run a bit more than the Lyman Super Targetspots.

The 513T's are accurate. They, and the Winchester 75's, were the target rifles for folks that didn't want to break the bank for a Winchester 52, Remington 37/40X, or the later Anschutz 54. My son put on a prone show at 100 yards with one sporting a Lyman.

If the adjustments on the bases are difficult to turn, oil and clean before using.

I Was going to buy it just for the scope for the exact reason of using it in a build.

WHat do you rhink the rifle is worth? 4oo?

$400 is darn right....if you can get it for that don't look too eager slapping the cash on the table! He might figure out it is a low price.
Turn the locking ring, the number is there. Probably a 10X guessing
