What dies for a .22 Grendel Improved........

There is a very nice .22 Grendel Improved 40* rifle ( sides blown out straight and shoulder increased to 40* ) on Gunbroker that I am interested in. However, I cannot for the life of me find any .22 Grendel Improved die sets. I looked at some alternative die sets ( 6mm Hager with neck bushings , 22 LBC , ???? etc. ) to see if they could be made to work but I'm just not sure.

Can any of you all provide some guidance on a way to proceed to make this work and help me spend my money ? Any help is thoroughly appreciated. Thanks.

Does the seller have dies ? How about a fired case or two and a talk with John Whidden in making a set ?

What Bill K said........You may be able to get some few times fired brass from the seller and his dies. If not, and the gun is really desirable to you, pick it up and put a new barrel on it. There are a lot of Smokin' 22 rounds out there that would a lot less labor-intensive. By the time you properly set yourself up for the wildcat round you would be over 1/2 way there......Best Of Luck

I would contact Whidden and see what they day. If you had a lathe you may be able to modify a .22-250 Imp. die. Just a thought.

The 22 LBC has a standard 23 degree shoulder. You could fire firm a couple cases and send them to Whidden or Hornady for a set of dies. I shoot the LBC and like it but I suspect maybe a 75 FOS gain. That number is easily matched by a 22X6.8 thanks to a higher operating pressure in the smaller case. Beware that Starline brass has a lower case capacity than Lapua.
