What DIA to have die neck honed to?

I am sending in my forster 6.5x47L FL die to have the neck honed. Im just curious how much smaller than fired or loaded diameter I should have it hone to. My fired cases measured 0.293, loaded round measures 0.290, I was thinking to have the neck hone to .002 under loaded dimension. Is this too much? BTW this is for a casual use, range/ hunting/ "tactical" rifle, that will be fed from a magazine. Thanks,
Mason

Being your intentions are for clip/magazine feed and hunting usage, your 0.002" would not be to much, in my opinion.
I wouldn't want any less then than that myself.

If you are mainly accuracy conscious then it's up to trial and error. I have Forster and Redding bushing and mine clearly likes more tension than less. The Forster as is Doesn't have enough I need to send it out get it honed to match my bushing diameter and ditch the expander ball, or get a smaller ball.

Check the size of the neck on a piece of brass that has been sized without the expander ball in the die. I think they will only hone out up to .008" on the necks.

Depending on the thickness of the case neck wall, whatever it takes to make the neck inside diameter .0005” to .001” less than the outside diameter of the expander button. For tweakin’, use Forster’s oversize buttons.

I just did this same thing for my 243, I was getting 90lb of seating force. I asked for .002 under loaded round and they did not do it at first. Made a phone call and sent it back for the second time and they did it. Now I get 40lb of seating force. They do no like going less than .005 under. You might want to add a letter and your phone number along with an explanation.

From the article, (3) Forster 6BR FL dies, necks honed to .267”, .266”, .265”, no expander button.

“The table below shows the neck diameter range of 10 sized cases using each die. Brass springback after sizing is running 1 to 1.3 thousandths. My loaded rounds are running 0.2697-0.2699 using Lapua I bought last year. So far the dies are working well. I sized 80 cases with the 0.266″ necked die. The shoulder is running 0.4582″ and 0.300″ up from the base is 0.4684". I spun 20 of ‘em and 16 had a runout of one thousandth (0.001) and the other 4 at 1.5 thousandths (0.0015).”

Die Diameter Sized Brass Springback Neck Tension
0.267 Die 0.2683-0.2684 0.0013 0.0014
0.266 Die 0.2672-0.2674 0.0013 0.0025
0.265 Die 0.2659-0.2660 0.0010 0.0039
