What caused this?

I looked with my borescope looks fine. Tried the paper clip, no problem detected. Thanks for these suggestions that I should have thought of. I think I agree with moondog, a factory defect. I will drill out the primer poket and use it to inspect neck clearence with the borescope in ppc chambers.

You had something in the chamber. Enough shots and it should disappear. Or not. Something like that, on my brass, might elicit a "Hmm" from me, but that's about it. WH

No, there was nothing in the chamber. I am very fussy with drying the chamber . The line straightened out would be 150% or the length of a thread. They are not cotton patches and no threads come off them.

I'm going to just say that this mark because of it's shape and size, was
done in a deep drawing stage at the factory. I'm pretty positive. I have
done quite a few deep draw dies over the years in the shop. During
press set ups and testing, the largest problem we looked for was during
the pinch trim operation. Some dies were multi stage, where a cup would
get trimmed then another draw. If the trim edge is worn or out of tolerance,
a fine hair like trimming will drop off and can be carried to the next stage
causing this shape. As I mentioned earlier, I've seen it in the steel cups.
Usually and depending on the stages, we would set up an interrupted air
blast to clear trimmings before going on to the next draw......My experience
as a tool maker, and having way too many hours solving this problem for
Puralator oil filter cups as they wanted to go to thinner material for the much
smaller filters coming on line for the imports......Long winded, some drama,
and it still may be something else, but I'll say this......It's not Jeff's hair. It may
be falling out but it's just too short and grey.......

Fuj thanks for your informed answer. Falling out , present tense, your a kind man Fuj.
Why not ask lapua .....they may ask that you send them one.......worst case you may not get an answer .....best case is they send you a new box of brass
