Check your rules for barrel taper. A LV contour barrel fits the bill for a LV rifle.
Ive never seen or built a LV rifle with anything but a LV barrel. Of course there are personal variations such as a bruno LV taper but its going to be a LV barrel on a LV rifle in the end if you use it in registered competition with todays componentsNot always, after you weigh all components and then do your math and see where you have to cut the LV. barrel to make weight.....

No we’ve had to cut a nice chunk from the big end for many years. It hurts pretty badNot saying that, it is where you have to cut it to make weight. With the bigger and heavier scopes and tuners . I don't think you will be using much of the heavy end any more.... jim
You have to make weight. You want the longest barrel possible. So taking inches off the big end removes more weight than the same length on the small end. Your br gunsmith will have a makeshift chart on what diameters on both ends will end up weighing after the chamber is cut. You can only take so much off the big end to still have a good shoulder so theres another roadblock. That has been my biggest question about how much of the straight part of the barrel to keep.
So is it necessary to keep any of the straight?
