what are you using for snap caps

I looked at tipton, yellow anchors and A-zoom (not rec as a snap cap).

What do you use that works and is safe for firing pins?

I think it’s a number 8 wall anchor. Maybe it’s a number 6. Regardless, I usually eyeball them and can pretty much tell if they’re size appropriate. The yellow ones have attracted quite a following. The ones I use are gray.

And yes, they work very well protecting the breech face and firing pin. I rotate them every shot and they seem to last 25-30 snaps.

Thanks for rhe info, found some on amazon 100 for $5, very reasonable solution if they work

A side by side pic with a live round. At 1:00 and 11:00 o’clock you can see the firing pin indentations absorbed by the “rim” of the anchor.

Been using the yellow ones 14-16-? for L.R. Some one said the next size up for 22 Mag. Cheaper than snap caps. Snap caps don't last all that long anyway.

IMO those plastic snap caps are too soft I use fired shell casings
There are great for checking pin hit also cost nothing
Just stuff some tissue down them so none of the residual primer/powder don't get into the chamber/barrel
Same here...they work fine . I tested some without rotating in between firing, still had plenty of support left for the pin after 5-6 trigger pulls on my rifles.

IMO the plastic is too soft and being I have cone breeches I won't take that chance. I use fired shell casings.
all you have to do is stuff tissue down them so no residual primer/powder will get into a clean chamber/barrel.
they are also good for checking pin hit when adjusting the timing/ignition.
and they are very cheap!

typically my spend casings have expanded and fit real tight in the chambers, sometime won't go at all.

Are you trying to use shells from another rifle, if they extracted from the same rifle they should be able to be chambered into the same chamber. using shells fired in a benz chamber in a bolt match chamber probably won't work

usually I draw from our pile, one is a 10/22 may have a generous chamber compared the annies and cz.......I will segregate and try again.

I have used the Tipton which are very reasonable but have started using spent shells fired fr my rifle and stuffed as pointed out by another poster. For my center fire, I make them from u fired brass and cut hard rubber inserted into the primer pocket.

Yes sir trying it. Segregating by rifle, wipe clean and put in a small plastic box for use later.
fastarget,
here is a suggestion use the empty box the ammo you were shooting came in and gather up the fired shells from that rifle, put the fired shells in that box and write on the box the rifle you were shooting. no need to go thru all the trouble of separating them.
