What are you guys 6.5x47 loads?

I acquired a 6.5x47 in some trading. The original owner had it loaded at 2700 fps. So I wanted to get to the 2900 node. I found that 41.0 of H4350 with the 130 VLD yielded me with a velocity of 2875 fps and accuracy in 3 different days of testing at 500 yards were 1.4” 1.3” and finally 1.2”
I honestly feel the 1.2” would had been smaller as I had reworked the trigger and pulled my second shot before I was ready.
Anyhow just curious as to what you guys are loading at.

How many shot groups? Which chronograph did you use? Barrel specs??

I run 42.2 gr of H4350 in my 6.5x47 with 130 Berger hunting. Gives me 2980 fps out of a 8 twist 26” Broughton. No pressure in my rifle. Work up to this.

Forget the load but I used RL17 with the 130 VLDs in a #3 Brux. For a hunting gun the accuracy is good to 700 yds.
IIRC, MV was 2900 or 2950.

I shot the 135 BIBs and 40.5 H4350 in the heat/mirage today at 600 and man the target was bouncing something fierce ,,,,I am liking how this bbl/load is shooting so far..

Yote. that’s got that bullet moving out of a 26” barrel. Nice! Maybe I should try some Varget in my light hunting 6.5x47. Currently shooting 130 Accubond with H4350 at 2900 fps. Out of a 25” Benchmark.

Yes it does with exceptional accuracy and no signs of excessive pressure in my barrel. It was throated for the 140 gr Berger Hybrid which may help but a friend of mine had a 26” Krieger 4 groove 8 twist #5 contour rifle done by another smith with a different reamer with the same Stiller TAC 30 action and found this same load mirrors pretty much identical velocities with very similar accuracy. Last winter I shot a coyote off of a roadkill deer bait set at 740 yards with night vision in complete darkness with this load. Dropped him with my first shot attempt. Hits hard and very accurate.

I have one for my son that shoots 120 amax at 2910 out of a 23" barrel. 39.7gr of Varget if memory serves me. It is a short freebore reamer; .080" I want to say. Boy is 11 and 90lbs so a little reduced recoil was the idea.

Yote,

That's some great shooting on your part. That's a long poke day or night. Nicely done.:D:D:cool:
