What ammo boxes are you using for 17 Hornet?

All I can find that I like are the 50 round for Hornet/30 Carbine. I would rather have 100 round boxes without having to stuff the lid with foam to keep empties in place. I've tried cardboard, they don't hold up to travel and stacking very well. Anything cheap out there that works?

I hadn't been able to find any 100 volume models, from any brands out there, I looked.
I've never found any. Guess I'll buy some more of the Berry's 50's. Boxes of 100 take up less space than 2 boxes of 50. Trying to cram 37 rifles and 12000 rounds of ammo in the back seat of an F350 gets more challenging every year. :) I try to take fewer guns but then I get to feeling sorry for them standing there in the safe. Their once a year chance you know.

If you were a better shot and not blame it on the rig, you could cut that number down a lot ;-), lol.
Hope you had a good Christmas and a great 2024 buddy.

FYI I am guilty of similar actions. My Tacoma only holds so much gear. That is my reasoning for going or trying to go multiple times, lol.

I use a MTM case for my 17 Ackley Bee…it’s a pistol cartridge one but can’t remember which one..if you have a store that sells them local just take a loaded round in and try them out

I found the MTM model to have a high interior lid, so if you turn the box too much the rounds all fall out.

The Frankford I like because they are low inside the lid, and if you turn the box over the rounds stay in place. The bottom is opaque black, but the lid you can see through (it's dark but still see-through), so it makes it easier to figure out which box is which, in case you've loaded different kinds of test or bullets, etc.

The boxes are also lower overall, and they stack well, so easier to carry more in ammo cans.

Nah, I'm shooting PD's with a 95% kill ratio. And I have ocean front property for sale in Colorado. I might have exaggerated rifle and round count a little. Probably only 30 rifles and 9000 rounds. We switched to a newer F350 since that picture was taken. Now we have the same amount of room it's just configured differently. Didn't help but it's different.

I write on the lids with a sharpie. It comes off with lighter fluid you know, in case I change a recipe or something.

I have used Berry's 404 for a long time but started using the 405 for my Spitfire last year and like them a lot better because the bottom part is shallower making it easier to grasp cases that are neck up. Couple pics so you can see what I'm talking about a little easier. These are a little taller so you would need to put some foam in the lids to keep everything snug. Just another option for your consideration. Don't know whether they make them in 100 rd version or not.

Another one that works for the Hornets, is the RCBS small rifle. It has a taller lid than the frankford, but if you put the ammo in base down they stay put. The RCBS ammo boxes are very well made, I have quite a few of them for rifle and pistol.

Back when I got my .17 Hornet, I needed some cases, and I looked around at my array of various boxes on a shelf. I took one of my MTM ("utility box - large #UB-4) boxes and took four of the 25-round plastic ammo holders that came out of the factory Hornady ammo boxes and glued them into the bottom of the MTM box with "Goop". I liked it enough to make more of them as I shot up the factory ammo to get the brass. They are just the right height, leaving about 3/16" clearance for the tops of the loaded ammo and the factory ammo holders are properly sized for the cartridge.
