What action do you Shoot?

I’m trying to get a feel for what are the most popular actions folks are using in competition. Including the action’s body diameter, bolt and port configuration.

Currently I’m working with a company testing and developing a line of 3D printed Benchrest stocks. The first stocks were developed for short range, the next step is developing stocks for long range benchrest.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Sample of the latest short range stocks.

Bart, that's a worthy project for sure.

Panda user in the 3" stocks..RB/LP/RE. Kodiak RR/LP in the 2.25" HBR stocks. Have a new Panda coming that's RB/RP/RE.

FWIW, I like how the Bruno/McMillan stocks are configured where the ports are above the stock line...no port cuts needed. Not sure how that pencils out with the minimal butt angles, though.

Good shootin' :) -Al

you will do gangbusters!

For lr BR, in more recent times I would say the vast majority would be Bat b and Kauger br3 mostly the 1.350 some 1.4. Depending on the region. BR3 is popular down here. Personally nothing will ever replace a B for me, (other than an updated B ;) )but there are so many good options now. F-class the Bat M 1.470 oct and 1.470 BRMXD. Decent amount of Nuevos too, but Id start with the others first. Theres tons of other actions out there, but I doubt that many will pull them out to restock, usually they build a whole new gun and those are the actions popular with my guys at the moment.

Barts -

Howdy !

Probably not much help for your purposes. Please take as info:

There are still “ legacy “ benchrest actions out there. Perhaps these might not be addressed by your project.

FWIW:
My Wichita WBR1375 has 1.375” OD, and is a single-shot round action.
It was/is one of the first BR actions w/ a 3 lug bolt, and has flat bolt face.
They accept Remington pattern triggers, and can be configured w/ AR-15 style
extractors; or alternately a Sako style extractor.

The 1.375” diameter Wichita action was brought out as a better way to have a “ stiff “
action w/o having to “ sleeve “ an existing ( “ Factory “ ) action. The Wichita was tested and proven to be ( initially ) one of the stiffest actions being offered, at the time.

Best of luck w/ your endeavor !

With regards,

2 Nesika J's, 1 Borden, 1 Bat Nuevo and a Haverkamp. All are 1.350". I prefer rt bolt left load and left eject but right ejects are ok too. If I were to sell everything and start over I'd have a bunch of Bat B multi flat's. And a Bat M for an F Open rifle.
