Well you guys were right -- Win 748 in .308

You convinced me to try WIN 748 in my 308 rifles and I used it in one of my home made creations that one of the members here barreled and chambered, and it shot very well. So I decided if I was going to use it for 308s and 223s maybe I needed more, and with some of the U tubes claiming lower prices, I thought I would give a look. Some seem to be coming down a little, but some are still thinking they have gold. I saw 8lbs of win 748 from $269.99 to $419.91. I am thinking that this has all been a market manipulation. What my search told me is we have $150 difference in one item, seems like a scam. What say you?

Of course it is market manipulation to some extent. It simply follows from supply and demand. When the supply is insufficient to meet the demand the value of the product goes up because there will be someone willing to pay higher prices and the seller is seeking to make money. Supply exceeds demand and the price declines because the seller is incentivized to reduce/move stock and convert it back to currency. The price stabilizes at a point where supply equals demand. Basic economics.

I agree with DOOM, and to expand on that, there are probably dealers who paid more for existing stock than it can be obtained for now. Maybe some of those dealers actually need that higher price to make a reasonable price on what they paid. I'm not sticking up for those charging higher prices - but things are not always what they seem. I love that W748.

Prices are usually set by the max price A dealer believes he can get for the commodity rather than what's actually happening with supply and demand.

Of course rumors and innuendo and public perception and politics all play in to that when it comes to firearms commodities.

I'm sorry, But the online places have been raking over everyone for at least a year. You can't tell me a small regional farm and home store is able to get better prices (by a considerable amount) than large national online sellers. BR 2s and FED 210 GMMs have been between $89-$99 per K . All while online places are $125-$160 per K . Yes those online prices have dropped the last couple weeks, but still.....

Prices are not going to stabilize for a while!!! We pulled out of Afghanistan conflict and add more with Ukraine conflicts and Hamas and other minor conflicts!!! The US military was, and is supplying ammunition!!! It's stockpile is low and is being replenished slowly!!! The Israeli conflict is falling apart with Hamas losing funding and supplies!!! The Ukraine leader is going to lose a lot more ground because their funding is drying up because he is unwilling to come to the table and talk peace!!! This war is about to end in a few month's with the UKRAINIANS HAVING TO SURRENDER!!! They will lose a lot, instead of a little by not accepting peace negotiations earlier!!! Ukraine is the most corrupt country in the world!!! They played both sides (East and the West)!! They are fighting a war with NATO supplied weapons, but use Russian made small arms!! There's the proof of corruption!!!

This being said, all the countries supplying ammo to these conflict are, and will be sucking up ammo components to restock their reserve stockpiles!!! This includes the USA, with its huge stockpile demands!!! HIGH DEMAND, HIGH COSTS OF SUPPLY!! HIGH COST OF SUPPLY LEADS TO PRICE GOUGING TO THE SMALL CONSUMER!!!!

Winchester Olin is a supplier to the US military!! So, Win 748 powder is going to see huge price swings, based upon quantity size of purchases by warehouses and distribution demand!!!

Why does the rest of the FREE world insist on letting the USA pay for their defense, and to thank us they establish tariffs to further make the USA pay even more? I think i would just like them to say thank you instead.
