Weight reduction

I need to shed a few ounces from my FTR rifle. I've gotten lighter scope rings, picatinny rail.....and so on.
I have a shehane mbr laminated stock and was curious about milling some material from it to reach the desired weight. Is this advisable, if so what area is the best to remove material?
Thanks
Bryan

A couple things I've done... aluminum trigger guard can help (0.5-1 oz) if you have a stock OEM one. I've also taken the fore-end rail and shortened it... like cut it in half. As long as there are screws holding it at either end, that should be enough. If you have a surface mounted bipod attachment point, that may not help.

Removing material from inside the barrel channel (carefully) or adding venting slots along the barrel channel might help. Or remove the butt plate and drill a deep hole inside the butt stock, being careful to avoid any hardware (adjustable cheek piece, etc). If you have an adjustable buttplate, skeletonizing it can help quite a bit, or I've heard some people say they use a very light butt plate from something like an old Remington .22 Target Rifle (513T?) to shave 4-5 oz.
