Has anyone tried the weaver xr36. How do the optics compare to the standard t36? How are they tracking? In general what do you think of it in comparison to some of your other scopes?

Hope to see mine delivered today from Natchez (great price btw). Reviews are very scarce, I've read the glass is better, the only real issues I've seen were a couple reviews that said the side focus won't go down to 50 yards which is the scopes minimum. If true, it seems like the factory would correct that under warranty. I have a T36 I want to compare it to as soon as it arrives, hopefully the optical quality is a marked improvement. Would love to hear other XR36 owners opinions.

My XR arrived yesterday, so I took it and removed my T36 from my Anschutz and took both to my range for a head-to-head comparison. Some time ago I made a couple adjustable scope holders just so I can compare scopes side by side.
First off, the XR comes very close, but not quite, to being able to focus at 50 yds. This is an issue for me as I benchrest a .22 Anschutz at 50 and 100 yds. I will contact Weaver to see if they can rectify this issue.
Secondly, (and this is subjective) I felt the T36 had just a tad more clarity and brightness. A very, very small difference, but I looked back and forth between the two scopes probably 25 times.
I do have a very good T36, probably the best I've had of 3 or 4 that have went down the road. I have seen marked differences in the "brightness" of different T36s over the years.
Scopes were checked at 50 and 100 yards, and the T36 seemed just a shade clearer/brighter (again, my subjective opinion)
FOV at 100 yards was definitely an inch or two smaller with the XR, not really an issue with target shooting, but there nonetheless.
The "eyebox" on the XR though substantially larger, also seemed just a little less forgiving as to winking out.
I really wanted the XR to be a substantial improvement, but there was just no "WOW" factor there for me.
The price was right, $379 + $30 off $300 purchase right now at Natchez. I would have bought a second one in a heartbeat if it had trumped my T36, but it just didn't do it. Granted, I do have a very good T36 of several I have had, some were not as good.
The XR is more modern and sleek looking for sure, and the side focus is definitely convenient, but I just
didn't see any improvement performance-wise over my T36.
Results may differ between two other scopes, the next XR may be better than the one I got.
Hope this helps
