Weaver t-series

I am looking for a good target scope to put on my BR. Mostly I punch paper for fun and plan on a couple PD shoots and maybe a BR comp just to try it out. I am on a budget and can't afford a NF or highend Leupold. The Weaver T-series of scopes is almost all I need in a scope, although I wouldn't mind SF. I am thinking a 36x40 with a dot recticle is what I want. Any opinions? Horror stories, or just another midgrade target scope. I can get a decent deal through work on the scope it should be a pretty good discount from retail.

Weaver T 36x is a really good scope and it seems to me that the clarity is as good as NF or leupold scopes. The only downside is that its a fixed power [if you were hunting] but paper punching, its really good.

The tracking and consistency of adjustment of the weaver t-36 is excellent. The leupold and NF scopes are in my opinion better glass however for the price, the weaver is great. Go with the target dot reticle. I have two of these scopes and they have been great. I have different sight settings from 100 yrds to 500 which is a total of 70 clicks with one load. I can move these 70 clicks and be right where it was before.

I have two Weaver 36's and they are great for long range competition. I tried a Sightron 36x on a woodchuck gun, and found that it was very difficult to scope the critter because the field of view is so narrow. With an adjustable, you can lower the power and increase the FOV easily. Also, with a 36x you will have an ell of a time with mirage. With a variable scope, powder reduction reduces the appearance of mirage. Take a look at a quality 6 - 24x; that is what you need.

depending on how far your shooting,we shoot 200 300 400 yds an the T36 is the scope to have for paper and when the mirage gets bad nothing will help you. Theres guys with $1800 scopes that cant see though mirage, you can compensate for it but theres no scope manufacturer that cuts the mirage better than any of the rest. Try shooting on a cool cloudy day then on a sunny hot day with all the scopes in your arsenal.Mirage is what it is...
