Weaver Scopes

Are all fixed power Weaver Scopes a little less clear than others. I have looked through several Weavers and others like Leupold and even Bushnell's made for 22's and the Weavers seemed a little cloudy. Could it be the Weavers were older and need a tuneup at the factory?

In my experience, they are a just a little less clear than the Sightron and Leupold's (not sure about Bushnell, so I cannot comment on them). I have a Weaver 36x and a Sightron SII BigSky 24x. I can easily pick out 6mm holes at 300yds with my Weaver, it tracks great and I haven't had any problems with it. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another if a good deal came along. You have to remember that they are only half the price of a Leupold too. Many of the other br shooters at our local range use Leupolds, which are a tad more clear. I think the Sightron is the best bang for the buck though, as it is closer in clarity to a Leupold. That is my take on it at least, anyone else have thougts on it??

On 12-11-10 I was shooting at 600 yards and could see my bullet holes from my 6CM with my Weaver 24X. I wish when I bought this scope it was the 36X.

Sort of related, but I gots to know. The Weaver fixed power target scopes.... Japanese glass, Made/Assembled in USA ? or ??? Thanks !!!

I have three t-36 weavers. Can you tell I love-em? My oldest one says made in USA. The two newer versions are made in japan to Weaver specs. The japaneze made are a clearer.

I can echo your statement. The clarity in my Japan made T24 & T36 is good considering the price. But you cannot expect a Weaver to match the clarity of a Leupold which is more than twice the price. But the Weavers ARE plenty clear and actually I like them better than my Nikons. So go figure.

Am shooting 500 meter groundhog matches with two rifles. One has a Weaver 36X and the other a Leupold 40X. When conditions are good, I can see 6mm bullet holes with both scopes. Had an older Sightron 36x and Leupold 36x - neither would resolve bullet holes as well as the others.
Only better scopes are the NF and March.

I've owned a couple of the Nitrex by Weaver TR2 scopes, a 3-15x42 and 4-20x44, for a few months now. These are basically Weaver Super Slams, with same Japanese glass and internals that are made by LOW of Japan. Excellent optics in them. I've had a fair number of shooting buddies at range view thru them and all have told me the TR2 glass was quite good when it came to clarity and brightness....comparable to the Leupolds, Burris, Nikons and etc. they owned. Chuckle, even a Zeiss Conquest owner thought the Nitrex by Weaver comparable to his glass.

Yesterday at 600 I could see my bullet holes with my N.F. BR on 42, could not see them with my Weaver 24 untill the sun got brighter. I looked thru a Weaver 36 that seemed to be a little cloudy next to my 24 at 600. :-\ More then likely it was personal adjustment.

Just a side note on my question. Thanks for info. I am not buying anything Chinese if I can help it. My budget eventually will be Weaver, maybe a Leupold. No Nightforce in my future unless I win the lottery and I don't buy tickets. :)

Wish Redfield would come out with a USA made/assembled varmit scope.

You gotta play to win. I guess that's why I haven't. If you buy a Weaver or Leupold you will be happy with whichever one you choose.
