Thank you

your rear ring is a little close to the turret boss, it's not on the radius at the bottom of the boss is it, also did you deburr the rings. if the rings dig into the scope it will cause a false reading, take a .0005 shim and see if it will slide under the ring between the ring and scope

Be sure to degrease those side thumb screws and the holes they go in. As mentioned that rear ring needs to be a little further from the turrent housing, so slide the scope forward a little . Is that a Rem 788?

Thank's , yes it is a rem. 788, trying New bullets i found to replace the Sierra that i was not able to find in canada

For the turret housing, can it damage the scope when that close ?

possibly could damage, and it will not let your ring bearing surface do it's job, your ring will cant on the radius... where the rings split on the inside edge needs to be deburred so that the ring's bearing surface will wrap around the scope. When you see a scope with ring marks or digs is what I call them is where the ring is not deburred and the scope will not seat fully to the bottom of the ring, use a feeler gauge and set the scope in the bottom ring if the feeler gauge slides under the scope the area at the split of the rings is holding it off..if this makes any sense..I deburr my rings before I mount them, even deburr Burris Z ring inserts they will also hold the scope up and not let it seat.

I clean them and it had some oil résidu , should be the problème.
12 inch pounds on the rings
35 inch pounds on the base
I torque them at 30 inch pounds and will verify them frequently .

Thank's
