Weaver / China??

It was mentioned recently that Weaver is importing from China. Does anyone have any factual info on this?

Such as: When did they start, all models or only some? How do you tell the difference?

All I have seen say japan or the cheaper models made in the phillipines.

Pretty sure their high end target and 30mm tactical/target scopes are made by LOW in Japan.

The Kaspa line is made in China. Everything else is made in Japan or the Philippines, as mentioned above.

It's true. I just bought a Kaspa extreme tactical 3-12x44 for my AR-15. Has "Made in China" stamped right on it. Got it for about $150. Great little scope for the money. Excellent clarity, probably vxIII level, and great illuminated reticle. Adjustments are a little mushy, but I can't expect the world from a scope with an average street price around $200. China or not, it's still a heck of a lot of quality for the money and then some.

20 years from now almost all scopes will probably be made in China and the ones that aren't will probably have price tags that contend with a new ATV. So we might as well get used to it and don't let go of any quality scopes you already own.

With the growing trend of manufacturers sending work overseas, you can almost bet your last dollar that one day all the American made optics that we all have lying around the gun room and garage will start to gain value like a firearm.
