This 3-9 premier scope has been at a relative of mine for 30 years or more. Glass is very clear. Anyone have any thought or experience with these scopes.....nice wide angle

If it's the Redfield Widefield, it is a decent scope. Nice view. However, I had one on a .270 back in the 70's and one day while shooting the horizontal crosshair fell off.

That happens to the best sometimes don't it..

I think the premier lines were made in Germany somewhere. The ones I've owned have had really clear glass and seem to be well made.

The Premier line was made in Japan, as was the Supreme line. I seem to remember that Tasco was involved somehow. It was the Imperial line that was made in Germany.

As for the wide field, if the image is a rectangle instead of a circle, it's not really a wider FOV compared to other scopes; it's actually a reduction. I have an old Japanese Tasco with the same view. What they do is place a rectangular cutout with a wire reticle at the focal plane. They cut out the top and the bottom to make them flat, and a little on the sides, giving a fake wide field effect.

One of the wires in the reticle of my Tasco broke and that was it.

I much prefer an etched reticle; much more durable, but more expensive than the wires.
