Weatherby Vanguard Options

I've got a Weatherby Vanguard with an aftermarket composite stock and timney trigger. It's a 30-06 with a bad barrel.

I was thinking about gifting this to my nephew after getting a new barrel for it. I assume that I can get a .308 length cartridge without any issues or other changes, correct? (my assumption is based upon the belief that they only use one length action for all chamberings)... If I need any correction please let me know. Thanks.

Me, personally, would re-barrel it to .280 Ackley Improved. An excellent cartridge in my opinion. Your nephew will thank you.

I bought a Weatherby Vanguard in 22/250.
It was an awful shooter, so I replaced the bbl with a 26"Muller Works bbl 12" twist, Timney Trigger, and a B&C stock. Now it's a tack driver.

I am not aware of any differences in the magazine between 308 and 30-06. Am I incorrect?
The 06 box would be longer than a 308 box. The 308 may not exit properly due to having longer feed lips. You may need to make a spacer for the backend.
