WC-852

Just aquired a couple pounds of this WC-852 from a previously unopened 8 LB jug a friend of mine had. Its ball powder and from everything I have read it should have a burn rate somewhere around H-4831. Has anyone else come across this powder? If so what cartridge did you use it in.

I have used various lots of that powder from everything from a 22-250 to 300 Win Mag and everything in between. Lots have varied burn rates so you need to start out with that in mind. It is a somewhat dirty powder but I have found it very accurate. I presently use it in a 25-06 and a 270 WM. It meters so darned good that it is easy to use with a powder measure. I have used both magnum and standard primers and never really found much difference in performance. I use H4831 starting loads and work up from there. My present lot is the 852 Slow and I had to back down 1 1/2 grains on maximum loads from the previous lot I have. Tom
