This king snake is killing the water moccasin. They are not reportedly in north ga. But this was in the extreme northeast corner of the state.

I havent seen a king snake here in central oklahoma in ages 20? years. Plenty other wildlife, no kingsnakes. They were fairly abundant. Blue racers gone too.

Granpa always said "I'm only afraid of three kinds of snakes, live ones, dead ones, and sticks that look like them".

As a younger man, a snake was a snake, now days all but the worst get a pass, especially a king snake. There is a king snake that I have seen around the yard on occasion over the last few years, and as long as he doesn't surprise me too bad, we will remain on good terms.

For those people in the west king snakes kill rattlers as well, leave them alone and let them do their job.

ALL snakes are getting pretty thin at my place in south Texas. Dam hogs love snakes for dinner, or any meal for that matter.

I am not seeing them here in central Texas like I did ten years ago either.... We are transplants from South Texas ourselves... Honestly can't wait to move back south away from places like Austin.... I didn't know hogs would eat them.. i just thought here it was all the pot smoke and hippie oils that were killing them....

Our Scoutmaster taught us a rhyme about a hunnert years ago that I still remember--Red next to yeller could kill a feller. Red next to black is a friend of Jack. We had red kings and Coral snakes then, but I haven't seen either in forever.

Used to see lots of king snakes here in S E N C but in the last few years I have not seen any at all. However living right on the bank of the Shallotte River I see poisonous water snakes (water rattler) quite often along with copperheads. Neither are very nice to humans.

I've killed 5 copperheads in the last 3 days.

WOW That's a lot of snakes. U must have found or be close to a nest of them jokers. About three years ago I found a nest under the front porch and got rid of the 3 babies but never got a chance on the adults.
