Disclaimer: No claim of a direct hit on egg is being made, only that the egg broke.
A couple of days ago, James Phillips, aka JamesnTn on this board, sent me a text asking if I was working Saturday. I replied and told him to meet me at the DOME around noon. Saturday I was
at the Stagecoach having lunch and in walked Mr. Phillips. Game On.
First we got on my gator and we rode to the top of Rocky Top II to show him my 2,000 yard view.
It was cloudy and overcast and not likely we could see the splash under those conditions. Next, we moved on up to the DOME and got a zero on his Bat 284 Shehane. He had put a 40 MOA rail on it and wanted to see where he was with that rail. After a few shots at 800 he had a zero that he could calculate his elevation moa from his cell phone device.
Next, we proceeded to the top of Rocky Top and set up on two benches where I had a challenge ready for James. Before James arrived I took a gator ride to the back field and placed a couple of white hen eggs on a pond bank at 1428 yards. We often shoot this bank because it is a mix of
small rocks and dirt with no vegetation making spotting splash very easy. Saturday was cloudy with gusty winds, definitely not an ideal time to try for a long shot on a small target. One thing was in our favor, no mirage but the wind was going to be very challenging.
Shayne Halliburton arrived to help spot and keep us honest. The three of us had shot together before. James shot first with Shayne and I taking turns spotting. James had a Bat 284 Shehane on a beautiful MBR stock.

We spotted his splash on his first shot and we were off to a good start. Every shot was close. Wind was gusting making it very difficult from shot to shot. James had several shots that probbly dusted the egg with splash.
James told me to go ahead and shoot. I knew my normal elevation for that spot was 42 MOA so I dialed the NF ATACAR T in and touched off the first pointed 180 hybrid. Close. The elevation was about perfect hiting a foot left. I dialed in a few clicks of windage and the second shot hit within a foot, little right and a hair low. I held for shot #3 and impact was where I had held the cross-hair so for shot #4 I held dead on. Shot #5 hit just inches low. Shot #6 I held the crosshair one egg thickness above the egg and
touched off the shot. By now I had put a towel over my head and scope to get a better view. Shot was on its way and I got back on the egg in time to see it explode as if it was hit by a "V-max at warp speed", complete white mist.
Mission accomplished, 1428 yard EGG taken out on Shot #6.

Egg was in the very back field

Shayne took 5 shots with my rifle and did everything but scramble the egg.
He was so close on a couple of shots. Good shooting Shayne

Next we went back to Rocky Top II to get James qualified at 2 K but it was to dark to
see splash at that distance. We still had daylight left so we went back to the Dome
and James shot did a little 600 yard wind test with his new Leonard 6 Dasher.

James speed shooting at 600
5 shots in 27 seconds
Next James shot his JP Enterprises 223 AR out to 600 yards. I left for home at this point with the guys still shooting.
Tim Hewitt also came in about this time after he got off work. Brought his 6 XC.
All in all a great day of varied shooting at the DOME. From 300 to 2000 with AR's to full blown bench guns.
Warning
on't try this at home
it is addicting and will cost you a lot of money!!!
Good friends, good guns, BEST of TIMES!!! Lifetime Memories
